Max Kahn, M.D.
IN MEMORIAM
Along with Michael Levi, Dr. Kahn started the practice in a small office on 86th Street almost 40 years ago. With their hard work and medical expertise, the practice has grown into the premier academic pediatric practice in NYC.
Dr. Kahn grew up in Burlington, Vermont, did his undergraduate education at Harvard, and medical school at Columbia. He went on to pediatric residency at Jacobi-Bronx Municipal, where he first met Michael Levi. Together they opened an office at a time when there were virtually no pediatricians on the Upper Westside, at the same time working three to four part-time jobs to pay the rent.
Dr. Kahn worked part time teaching pediatric residents at NYU/Bellevue for years until a heart attack forced him to retire from teaching. He continued for 25+ years, caring for thousands of families.
His impact will endure on a generation of Upper Westsiders.
